How to get involved

There are lots of ways you can help us. You could:

  • fund work placements for people with learning disabilities who are trainees in our LDN Eats programme
  • sponsor or volunteer at one of our events, such as our Spotlight On series which raises awareness about issues that impact people with learning disabilities, or our Kids Can Achieve Family Fun Day which is a fundraiser and a chance for families and children we support and our local community to get together and have fun
  • deliver life skills workshops at our Community Hubs, passing on your skills or passions to people in the community who get little support
  • adopt our Kids Can Achieve minibus – we use our minibuses every day and they mean that our young people can access our services
  • volunteer your in house expertise to support our internal teams – for example helping us develop our social media strategy or supporting us with business development for some of our new projects
  • select us as your Charity of the Year.

At LDN London we help children and adults with learning disabilities and their families to achieve their goals and dreams. Every hour you give and every pound you raise will directly enable us to do this.

Volunteering opportunities

Many businesses first get to know us through volunteering.

Below are some ideas if you want to dip your toe in and find out more about us:

Volunteer at Kids Can Achieve, Harrow

Volunteer at our Family Fun Day or support with tidying our outdoor space and play area or kit out one of our dedicated indoor spaces such as our art room, soft play or music room. You could also help us with our fundraising, collecting raffle prizes and advertising events.

Skills based volunteering

Using your in-house skills and expertise, run a workshop at our Community Hubs in Westminster and Camden, supportive places for people with learning disabilities to learn skills and socialise. You could help people to learn a skill around employment, budgeting or IT.

Hands on support volunteering

Support our team to deliver one of our arts, fitness or social sessions at the Community Hubs or with our Family Service team. This is a great way to get to know us and enables our team to lead new and innovative sessions where extra support is required.

Out and about volunteering

Help our Community Hub members to go to cultural events and activities like concerts and museums. We would love for some extra friendly faces to support the group to travel and enjoy events in London. It’s vital that people we support can get involved in what the city has to offer.

Cheer point volunteering

When our supporters take up challenges – like Swim Serpentine or the London Marathon to raise vital funds for our work – we want them to be supported every step of the way. Cheer point volunteers are stationed along the route with banners and branded t-shirts to encourage and help participants keep going.

Volunteering opportunities in our services

Many of our residential services welcome support with improving their gardens or smartening up the interiors. If you take part in these these opportunities you will work with the service manager and sometimes people we support to make a big difference in just a day.

Case study: 4C Group

“As a proud charity partner of LDN London, the 4C Group shares in LDN’s mission to empower those with learning disabilities to live fully realised lives. Our partnership stems from shared values of community building, integrity, collaboration and care – values we actively cultivate within our team and guest relations and strive to spread throughout our community.”
