April 2026 marked one year since Islington SENDIASS joined the organisation, and it feels like an important opportunity to recognise the impact they have made for families, colleagues and the wider SEND community.
Over the past year, the team has supported families through more than 1,200 pieces of work, with an average response time of less than one day. Most importantly, the vast majority of these cases closed because families’ needs had been met. This reflects the team’s commitment to providing timely, high-quality information, advice and support.
The team focused on what mattered most: ensuring families could access the help they needed when they needed it.
The team’s contribution has extended well beyond individual casework. They have strengthened the visibility and reputation of the service across the local SEND community: delivering workshops, coffee mornings and launching a drop-in that enables families to access advice and information quickly and informally.
“It’s nice to be in a team that understands me. It helps me feel recognised. Everyone should feel this way.”
SENDIASS intern
They have also demonstrated their commitment to inclusion through supporting an intern with SEN to become part of the team and feel valued. Reflecting on his experience, our intern said, “It’s nice to be in a team that understands me. It helps me feel recognised. Everyone should feel this way.”
As a service that brings a different perspective and way of working to LDN London the SENDIASS team has helped us continue to evolve and respond to the needs of the communities we serve.
Their work reminds us of the value of listening, adapting and creating services around people’s needs. We are grateful for everything they have contributed during their first year and look forward to seeing the positive difference they continue to make in the years ahead.
